It’s been a couple of years since we were first introduced to the Lytro light field camera , and to be honest although it was an exciting concept, the hardware felt like a first version.
However, now Lytro has announced the release of it’s next generation of light field cameras, the Illum.
Specs wise it’s leaps and bounds better than its predecessor, with a 4 inch touch-screen, a hot shoe for flash attachment, a 30-250mm f/2 lens with 8x optical zoom, and the exposure controls that were lacking from the first version.
Expected for release mid-July it also comes with a jump in the price tag retailing for US $1,600. Pre-order at lytro.com
