In celebration of Chinese New Year, the Carriageworks gallery will present artist Zhang Huan’s sculptural installation ‘Sydney Buddha’.
The imposing sculpture comprises of a Buddha moulded from ashes collected from Chinese temples, which will sit facing it’s own aluminium mould.
The exhibition will be unpredictable as the atmospheric conditions will effect how long the sculptures 20 tonnes of ashes takes to gradually disintegrate.
